On February 1, 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Zika virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). In the United States, there have been 472 travel-associated Zika virus disease cases reported as of May 4. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Zika virus will likely continue to spread to new areas.
