Diversity is the presence of differences that may include race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, age, religious commitment, or political perspective.
Equity is promoting justice, impartiality and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by institutions or systems.
Inclusion is an outcome to ensure those that are diverse actually feel and/or are welcomed. Inclusion outcomes are met when you, your institution, and your program are truly inviting to all.
"The leadership and staff of the National Association of Landscape Professionals are fully committed to empowering racial, gender, and social equality within the landscape industry. By increasing representation by people of color, women, the LGBTQ and Hispanic communities, and other underrepresented groups in leadership roles in NALP we will foster a culture that celebrates diversity. To ensure that member voices are truly heard, we recently held the first, of what we hope to be many, diversity discussions that help us better understand each other and create strategies to build a more inclusive culture in the landscape industry. There are many things we can do to help change the face of the industry. As we begin this journey together, know that we are committed to making progress. We are working to provide needed education and resources for employers to create more inclusive workplaces with pathways for advancement; to share stories that celebrate the diversity of our industry; and to bring new voices to our Committees, Councils, and Board of Directors. We encourage all members to help make change happen in every facet of the landscape industry – including becoming active in the association."
