HOW TO GET CERTIFIED

1. CHOOSE & REGISTER

Select a designation that best meets you or your employees’ needs and job responsibilities, and register for the exam:

2. STUDY

All exams are self-study and materials are available for purchase at NALP Bookstore.

  • A study guide is included with your registration for the Lawn Care Manager exam.
  • Studying for the Technician-Exterior exam? Sample the 20+ online training videos included with your purchase of print materials at Landscapetechnician.net.
  • In addition to your professional experience, don’t forget your Landscape Industry Certified peers are also a resource!

3. TEST

After you have studied and feel confident in your body of knowledge, it’s time to take the test. NALP uses ProctorU, an online proctoring service. The Technician-Exterior program involves a written and hands-on exam, administered by one of our state and provincial association licensees. You have 3 years after registering to test for most exams. The Lawn Care Manager program requires testing within one year of registration. Read more on testing.

4. MAINTAIN

Once you have passed your exam, look for your congratulatory packet which includes guidelines for maintaining your hard-earned certification designation. Every two years you will need to recertify by reporting 24 CEUs, earned through continued education and professional development.
