Second Location Added to Renewal & Remembrance Event

Frank Sesno to Speak at Legislative Days on the Hill

HERNDON, Va., May 16, 2017— The National Association of Landscape Professionals will hold its annual Renewal & Remembrance and Legislative Days on the Hill events, July 16-18, in Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia.

Renewal & Remembrance, the industry’s largest volunteer landscape and lawn care public service event, is in its 21st year. Each year hundreds of volunteers do liming and aeration, landscape and irrigation projects, and tree work at Arlington National Cemetery.

“Our partnership with Arlington National Cemetery is so meaningful to the association and to our members that we honored to be able to volunteer our time and expertise at the cemetery each year and to take on new projects when there is a need,” said Sabeena Hickman, CAE, NALP CEO.

This year a second location has been added, in Washington D.C., at the United States Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery, more commonly known as the Soldiers’ Home, which is one of the country’s oldest national cemeteries. More than 14,000 veterans, including those that fought in the Civil War are buried at the cemetery. A small team of volunteers will do liming and aeration at the Soldiers’ Home in addition to the much larger project at Arlington National Cemetery.

Renewal & Remembrance takes place in conjunction with Legislative Days on the Hill which includes the latest news and information about industry issues, visits with Members of Congress, and lessons on how to become a more effective voice in the legislative and regulatory process as well as networking events and entertainment by the world-renowned political satire group, the Capitol Steps.

Frank Sesno, former CNN anchor, will be the keynote speaker for Legislative Days.

Legislative Days on the Hill is free and is open to all industry professionals; Renewal & Remembrance is open to NALP members. Space is limited so register early to attend one event or both.

The events are produced with support from Platinum Sponsors John Deere, New Holland Construction and Caterpillar, Inc.; Gold Sponsors, Dow AgroSciences, Kubota, Imerys and Nufarm; and Silver sponsors Bartlett Tree Experts, Bayer, Ewing, FMC Corp., L.T. Rich Products, PBI Gordon, STIHL Inc., Schiller Grounds Care, Syngenta, and Toro.  Renewal & Remembrance partners include NHLA and PGMS, and Legislative Days partners include NHLA and SIMA.
