Sam Steel, PhD

Steel has spent more than 30 years developing, delivering and evaluating agricultural industry safety and health programs. He is also the NALP safety Advisor.

Steve Hamilton

Steve Hamilton has 20+ years’ experience in safety with workers’ compensation insurance carriers and insurance agencies.  He is currently finishing his eighth year with Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, serving as the Loss Control Supervisor in southern California.  Over the years, he has provided risk management services for clients with locations across the Western States including Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, and Utah.  Steve focuses on providing “real world” solutions to minimize risk potential and address regulatory compliance.  He enjoys the daily interaction with employees and employers alike.  His industry specialties include Landscaping, Construction, Wood/Metal fabrication and manufacturing.
 
Steve received his Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in literature and education from California State University, Long Beach.  He continues to pursue coursework to provide value added services to policyholders that includes OSHA 10/30 training, pesticide awareness and others.  He is an active member of the ASSP/ASSE and holds the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certificate. 


Joe Lewis

Joe Lewis is a native of Akron Ohio, retired Marine, husband, and father of two.  Joe entered the green industry in the fall of 2014, after retiring from the United States Marine Corps.  

Joe is currently the Chief Operating Officer with Yard Solutions, Inc., where he oversees daily administrative and operational functions, including marketing, sales, financial growth, and production by working closely with all levels of leadership to support all team members. Joe directs the development of safety and training initiatives to enhance the total workforce to ensure we all align with our vision of providing a seamless customer experience, while continuing to increase Yard Solutions’ presence throughout the Central Ohio area.

Joe is a Landscape Industry Certified Technician with designations in Ornamental Maintenance and Turf Maintenance. He is also an authorized OSHA construction instructor trainer, an authorized American Red Cross instructor, a registered trainer for the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP), the committee chair of the NALP Safety Committee, leadership team for the Veterans in Landscape Network, and recently an NALP Certification Committee Test Auditor.  Joe also serves on the Professional Development Committee for BOMA Columbus, and is a board member for the Ohio Green Industry Association (OGIA).
