Jud has had the good fortune of working with some of the best Design/Build companies in the country over his long career in the Green Industry. Starting with Lied’s in Wisconsin, Jud worked with Tom Lied, one of the founding members of ALCA (Now NALP). Then Jud moved to Naples, Florida to manage the operations of Smallwood Landscape; one of the preeminent design/build companies in Florida. From there, Jud joined Lambert’s in Dallas to work with Paul Fields to manage operations and then lead the company’s Sales and Marketing efforts. Each of these companies were in the lawn and landscape Top 100 list when Jud worked there.
Through those experiences, Jud has been able to work in remarkably diverse markets across the country. He understands what it takes to be successful in the Design/Build arena. More importantly, he knows what mistakes and pitfalls to avoid. Jud served as President of ALCA (now NALP) in 1997. That experience taught Jud how to lead a diverse organization of business owners to attain many successes.

Phil Harwood is a managing partner with GrowTheBench.com, one of three companies he has founded since retiring from a successful landscape & snow management career. He is also the founder of Pro-Motion Consulting, Inc. Phil holds an Executive MBA with honors and Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing, both from Michigan State University. He has had P&L responsibility for Multi State / Multi Branch operations with revenues exceeding $45 Million annually.
During his career Fred has directly managed the sales and production of over $70 million in lawn care and tree care services and $ 180 million landscape services.
As Head Harvester, with the Harvest Landscape Consulting Group, Fred facilitates numerousr groups, coaches and consults with owners of small, medium, and large Lawn Care, Tree Care and Landscape companies.
Fred has had extensive senior management experience in several areas of the “Green Industry” Including Lawn and Tree Care Landscape Management, Design Build, Arbor Care, Water Management, and Snow and Ice Removal. In addition, he has extensive experience in Franchise System operation and development. He is a “Landscape Industry Certified Manager” (NALP), a “Certified Turf Grass Professional” (PLCAA) “Certified Arborist” (ISA).
Fred serves as Secretary/Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Project Evergreen and on the Government Affairs Council for NALP s. Previously he has served on the Board of Directors of NALP and as Chairman of the Lawn Care Specialty Group. Fred is a Contributing Editor for Snow Magazine and Lawn and Landscape Magazine.
In 2006 Fred was honored by his peers by being named a TRAILBLAZER for Lifetime Green Industry Achievement by NALP.
